Artsy lighting is a great way to accessorize your home. Whether it is practical or not, these Bamboo Lights, manufactured by Yamagiwa are too cool. The designer, Pablo Reinoso was inspired by the varied uses of bamboo in Japan.
These things are just fantastic. Each light bulb, created by Chris Kabel, is encased in a capsule of sorts that has an adhesive backing for you to stick the light bulbs where ever you please.
The only downsides are that it seems the sticky is an all-or-nothing deal where if you don’t like where you stuck it the first time…too bad. Plus you’ve got to by them two at a time at around $25 each. I guess that’s the price you’ve gotta pay for art…or something.
Instructables user, ebenupton, has posted a detailed run through of how you can build your own little disco drink coaster to wow your friends (or yourself, if you’re bored).
The coaster isn’t available for purchase and does indeed require a bit of electrical work, but just follow the instructions closely and you should be fine.
The coaster hooks up to your computer and will display any video on the coaster, giving a unique lighting experience for each person.
Want to be the coolest person at your next party? Try these new Glow Stick Straws. The straw is crimped at each end, to hold in a glow stick. When you drink, the glow stick moves up and down.
For $8 for 6 assorted colors, this is just too fun to pass up.
The “honeycomb” is made of silk worm cocoon…which I can’t decide if that sounds high-class or just gross. Regardless of the material, it’s a pretty slick looking piece of lighting.
It’s approximately 8 inches in diameter is available for around $45 from Wrapables.com.
The Bi-Color LED Blow On-Off Candles from ThinkGeek are a unique way to have that romantic, candlelit dinner without risking burning down the house.
These candles look almost exactly like real candles (they’re made of wax) and function like a real candle (the LED light flickers like a real flame), but not only do you actually “blow” to turn it off but you do the same to “light” it as well!
